Davids Gallery- Gwarmacwydd
A private meeting room and gathering space for group stays, retreats and reunions in West Wales — exclusively for guests at Gwarmacwydd
Some of the best group experiences happen not in conference centres or hotel function rooms, but in smaller, more intimate spaces — where everyone knows each other’s name, where children are part of the occasion, and where the setting itself becomes part of the memory.
The Gallery at Gwarmacwydd is that kind of space. A beautifully converted former cowstall — last used in 1984 — now a warm, light-filled room where groups of up to 22 can come together properly. High ceilings, excellent acoustics, a piano, a large screen TV, and a mezzanine children’s area above. Set within a 450-acre working organic farm in the Carmarthenshire countryside, with the River Tâf, ancient woodland, and miles of private tracks outside the door.
It is available exclusively to guests staying at Gwarmacwydd. Book three or more cottages and the Gallery is yours.
The Journey In
The experience begins before you arrive. Tall stone gate pillars mark the entrance from the county road – beyond them, what begins as a country track opens into an avenue across an open field. On a clear day, the Preseli Hills are visible on the horizon ahead. The avenue descends gently into what feels like a tunnel through the trees, before emerging into the cluster of ancient stone buildings at the heart of the estate. By the time your group arrives at the door, the world outside has already been left behind.
Intimate by Design
Gwarmacwydd sleeps up to 22 — and that is exactly the right size for the kind of group that gets the most from a place like this. Small enough that everyone is genuinely together. Large enough for a proper family reunion, a church weekend, a club retreat, or a multi-family celebration.
This is not a conference venue. There are no delegate packages, no breakout suites, no lanyards. There is a farm, a river, a woodland, morning animal feeding with Angela, tractor sessions with David, and a beautiful private room where your group can gather at the end of the day. That combination — the activities, the landscape, the space to come together — is what makes a stay at Gwarmacwydd something people talk about long after they go home.
The Space
The main room is 61 square metres with a ceiling that rises to over five metres — generous, airy, and flooded with natural light from Velux roof lights and windows on both sides. The original stone walls of the cowstall are still visible in places, alongside the new cladding and sage green joinery that give the building its character.
The furniture is relaxed and moveable — sofas, armchairs, dining chairs and tables that can easily be arranged for a shared meal, a group meeting, a film night, a quiz, a sing-song around the piano, or simply an evening where everyone is in the same room for once.
The Mezzanine
A space-saving staircase — set against the original stone wall — leads up to the mezzanine. Thirteen square metres of quieter space, with floor cushions, books, LEGO and games. Children find it immediately. Adults appreciate having somewhere the younger members of the group can disappear to while the conversation carries on below.
Who It’s For
The Gallery was designed for groups who want to be together properly, in a setting that feels special rather than corporate.
Family reunions and multi-generational celebrations. Church groups, faith communities and Christian retreat weekends. Walking groups, book clubs, choir weekends and photography groups. Craft groups, sewing circles, knitting retreats and art workshops. Yoga groups, mindfulness retreats and wellness weekends. Clubs and societies looking for a private retreat destination in the West Wales countryside. Any group of up to 22 people who want more from a few days away than a hotel can offer.
It is not a bar or a party venue. It is a proper space for people who have something worth celebrating or sharing — quietly, intimately, in one of the most beautiful corners of Carmarthenshire
Hire
The Gallery is available exclusively to guests booking three or more cottages for a minimum of two nights. £240 per booking — whether you stay for a weekend or a full week, the price is the same. This covers the preparation and cleaning of the Gallery for your stay.
The farm is busy throughout the year and group bookings require all the right cottages to be free at the same time. Even a single cottage booked by another guest can make a group booking impossible. If you are planning a reunion, retreat or celebration at Gwarmacwydd, please book as early as possible and call David directly to discuss your dates and requirements.
Call David on 07802 217707 — the earlier you call, the better your chances of securing the dates you want.
No external hire — Gwarmacwydd guests only.

The Gallery comfortably accommodates groups of up to 35 — the maximum capacity of the five cottages combined is 22. Seating can be arranged in a variety of layouts depending on your group’s needs.
What is the minimum stay for Gallery
hire?
Two nights, with three or more cottages booked. The Gallery cannot be added to a single-cottage booking.
Can the Gallery be used for a meeting or presentation?
Yes — the large-screen TV, movable furniture and excellent acoustics make it well-suited to group meetings, presentations, film nights and informal gatherings of all kinds.
Is Gwarmacwydd suitable for a small group retreat?
Gwarmacwydd is particularly well-suited to intimate group retreats of up to 22 people. The combination of private farm, river, woodland, morning animal feeding and the Gallery gathering space makes it a genuinely distinctive retreat destination in West Wales — nothing like a conference centre, and far more memorable.
Is the Gallery suitable for a church group or faith retreat?
Yes — the Gallery is well suited to faith groups, church weekends and Christian retreats. The space is quiet, private and set within a working organic farm in the Carmarthenshire countryside, away from traffic, noise and distraction. It is not a bar or entertainment venue
Is Gwarmacwydd suitable for celebration groups?
Yes — birthdays, anniversaries, retirements and family celebrations are very welcome. Gwarmacwydd is a working farm in a quiet valley and we ask all guests to be considerate of the estate, the animals and the surrounding countryside. We are not a party venue — there are no bars, no nightlife and no facilities for large-scale entertainment.
Guests who are looking for that kind of celebration will find somewhere better suited to their needs elsewhere.
Guests who want something more relaxed, more personal and more memorable will find it here.
Is Gwarmacwydd suitable for craft, wellness or special interest groups?
Yes — Gwarmacwydd is well suited to a wide range of group retreats. Craft groups, sewing circles, knitting retreats and art workshops will find the Gallery a wonderful working space — warm, well lit, and completely private. Yoga groups, mindfulness retreats and wellness weekends will appreciate the peace, the countryside and the complete absence of traffic and noise. Photography groups have 450 acres of organic farmland, ancient woodland and the River Tâf on their doorstep. Whatever brings your group together, the combination of the Gallery, the farm and the West Wales countryside makes Gwarmacwydd a retreat destination unlike anything else in the area.
Do all guests need to check in — including day visitors?
Yes. As a managed estate, all guests and day visitors are required to check in with us on arrival, preferably in advance, via the online system. This applies to every member of your group, including anyone joining you for the day. Please let us know in advance if you are expecting day visitors so we can make sure arrival is straightforward for everyone.
Can we arrange farm activities for our group?
Yes. We can arrange a guided walk through the ancient woodland and along the River Tâf, and a walking tour of the farmyard — ideal for groups who want to understand the working farm around them. Morning animal feeding with Angela runs every day of the year and is open to all guests. Tractor experience sessions with David can also be arranged. Please discuss what your group would like at the time of booking.
How easy is Gwarmacwydd to reach?
Easier than you might expect — and the journey in is worth every mile. The estate sits half a mile from the public road, reached through tall gates and a long private avenue that passes open fields with views towards the Preseli Hills, then drops through a canopy of trees before emerging into the stone courtyard at the heart of Gwarmacwydd. From the moment you turn off the lane, the outside world falls away. Getting there is straightforward — just 2.5 miles from the A40 and around 10 miles from the dual carriageway at St Clears, connecting directly to the motorway network. London, the Midlands and most of the UK are well within a comfortable day’s drive. Secluded in its own valley – but not hard to find.
Is Gwarmacwydd open in winter?
Yes — the farm is open every day of the year. Winter is a particularly special time at Gwarmacwydd. The Simmental cattle herd are housed in the sheds and is fed every other day using telehandlers and tractors. The woodland is beautiful in frost. The river runs full. The cottages are warm and welcoming. For retreat groups looking for somewhere genuinely away from it all, a winter stay at Gwarmacwydd is hard to beat.
Is Gwarmacwydd accessible for guests with mobility difficulties?
The Gallery has a ramped entrance and is accessible to wheelchair users. Unfortunately, the cottages themselves are not specifically designed for wheelchair access — none have ground-floor bedrooms, and while The Old Coach House has a ground-floor bathroom, it has not been adapted for wheelchair use. We are happy to discuss your group’s specific requirements before you book — please contact us so we can help you work out what will and won’t be practical for your group.
Does Gwarmacwydd have a safeguarding policy?
Yes. David’s Organic Farm, Gwarmacwydd Estate, operates a full safeguarding policy. Angela Colledge is our Designated Safeguarding Lead. A copy of our safeguarding policy is available on request and is published on this website. Groups bringing children are welcome — the estate is well-suited to families and young people.
Are there toilet facilities in the Gallery?
The Gallery has no toilet or kitchen facilities. Guests use their own cottage bathrooms and kitchens, all within easy walking distance.
Is there WiFi in the Gallery?
WiFi is scheduled for installation in September 2026. Until then, guests can use the WiFi available in The Old Coach House and The Butlers cottages nearby.
