The Old Coach House – a stunning and spacious family cottage
Step through the French doors of The Old Coach House and you step back in time. This Georgian annex once housed Reverend Richard Bowen-Jones’s horse-drawn buggy and an attached bakery.
The original stone walls, the three-foot-thick dining wall with its old bread oven, and the original features throughout have all been carefully preserved. — combined now with modern comfort, warmth and a beautiful travertine tiled ground floor
Living Space

The open-plan ground floor is light-filled and spacious, with triple-aspect views across the Gwarmacwydd estate gardens, the children’s play area, and the fields leading down towards the River Tâf.

The kitchen and dining area flow naturally from the living space. Look out for the historic bread oven nestled into the three-foot-thick stone wall — one of the cottage’s most characterful original features, and a reminder of the bakery that once operated here.

The wood-burning stove makes it particularly welcoming on cooler evenings. Travertine tiles run throughout the ground floor, giving the space a warm, quality feel.

Master Bedroom

The master bedroom forms a refined countryside suite, combining generous space with beautifully crafted oak furniture, built‑in oak wardrobes, and a king‑size bed.

A distinctive porthole window adds character, while the main panoramic window opens onto the gardens and grounds of Gwarmacwydd, with long views across the fields towards the river Tâf. It’s a serene, elevated room designed for guests who appreciate comfort,  and a touch of luxury in a rural setting

Tucked alongside is a private annex — a sheltered sleeping space ideal for a baby or young toddler, close to parents for reassurance but with its own sense of a little room.

A gallery overlooks the open-plan living space below, so if the baby stirs, you’ll hear from downstairs without having to go up. It’s a detail that makes The Old Coach House particularly well-suited to families with young children

Second Bedroom

This bright second bedroom is designed as a flexible shared space, working equally well as a kids‑together room or a comfortable twin‑style room for young adults. Two well‑spaced bunk beds — one 3ft and one standard single — sleep up to four, with a built‑in wash‑hand basin adding everyday convenience.

The open layout keeps the room feeling calm and easy to use, making it ideal for siblings, friends or older children who want to stay together during their countryside break.

The Bathroom

The bathroom is on the ground floor and features a large bath and a separate shower — ideal for unwinding after a day on the farm or by the river.

When you don’t want to leave

Many families find they never need to venture far at all. The estate itself — the riverbanks, the woodland, the farm animals, the open fields — keeps children happily occupied for days. The space and freedom of Gwarmacwydd is often what guests remember most. As one guest put it: “From the moment we woke up, the fun began.”

Exploring the local area

When you do feel like exploring, Narberth — one of Wales’s most celebrated small towns — is just a short drive away, with independent shops, galleries, restaurants and a thriving food scene. The Pembrokeshire coast is within easy reach, with Wiseman’s Bridge and Saundersfoot among the closest beaches, and the full sweep of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park beyond.
